HBO Max will relaunch the long-running British news satire series Have I Got News for You with a U.S. version hosted by CNN’s Roy Wood Jr.. The American adaptation will retain the original show’s format, featuring a panel of comedians and guest hosts discussing the week’s top news stories with a satirical edge.

Wood will be joined by a rotating cast of co-hosts, including Ronny Chieng, Chelsea Handler, and Amber Ruffin. The show will premiere on HBO Max in late 2023.

Have I Got News for You has been a staple of British television since 1990. The show’s format has remained largely unchanged over the years, with a panel of comedians and guest hosts discussing the week’s top news stories in a satirical and often irreverent manner.

The show has been a critical and commercial success, winning numerous awards, including 10 British Academy Television Awards. It has also been praised for its sharp wit and its ability to skewer politicians and public figures from across the political spectrum.

The U.S. version of Have I Got News for You will be produced by HBO Max in association with Avalon Television, the British production company that produces the original show. Wood will serve as executive producer in addition to hosting.

The relaunch of Have I Got News for You is part of HBO Max’s push into comedy programming. The streaming service has recently greenlit a number of new comedy series, including The Other Two, A Black Lady Sketch Show, and Pause with Sam Jay.
