Villa Victorious in Quarter-Finals
Aston Villa has booked their place in the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa Conference League after a thrilling victory over Slavia Prague in the quarter-finals. The match was a close affair, but Villa eventually emerged victorious on penalties.
Tough Battle Against Slavia Prague
Villa faced a tough challenge against Slavia Prague, who had an impressive record in the competition. The Czech side had won all six of their previous matches in the tournament and were unbeaten on home soil this season.
Despite Slavia's strong form, Villa started the game well and created several good chances. However, it was Slavia who took the lead in the first half through a goal from Peter Olayinka.
Villa continued to push forward in the second half and eventually got their reward when Ollie Watkins equalized with a superb strike from outside the box. The match went to extra time, and then to penalties, where Villa held their nerve to win 4-3.
Semi-Final Fixture Against Olympiacos
Villa will now face Olympiacos in the semi-finals of the competition. The Greek side has also had a strong campaign in the Europa Conference League, winning four of their six matches. They knocked out PAOK in the quarter-finals.
The first leg of the semi-final will be played at Villa Park on April 28th, with the second leg taking place at the Karaiskakis Stadium in Athens on May 5th. Villa will be hoping to reach the final of the competition for the first time in their history.
